# SOPs — Pre-Production

> Standard operating procedures for assignment, discovery, research, briefing, concept development, budgeting, and pre-production planning.

This section defines the standard operating procedures (SOPs) that every Creative must follow during the pre-production phase. These SOPs ensure consistency, accountability, and quality across all projects.

## 7.1 SOP: Assignment Acknowledgement

**Objective:** Ensure clarity before any creative work begins.

**Procedure:**

* Acknowledge the assignment within the same working day
* Review scope, deliverables, deadlines, and constraints
* Identify missing information or unclear requirements
* Request clarification before proceeding

**Output:** Confirmed understanding of assignment and next steps.

## 7.2 SOP: Business Discovery

**Objective:** Align creative direction with business objectives.

**Procedure:**

* Review available business and client information
* Participate in or request a discovery discussion if needed
* Clarify objectives, priorities, budget boundaries, and timelines
* Align expectations with Account and Business teams

**Output:** Clear understanding of business goals and constraints.

## 7.3 SOP: Brand Research

**Objective:** Build a strong foundation for creative decisions.

**Procedure:**

* Review brand website, platforms, and content history
* Analyze previous performance and audience engagement
* Study competitors and market positioning
* Identify creative gaps and opportunities
* Document insights for reference during planning

**Output:** Research insights that inform concept development.

## 7.4 SOP: Client Briefing

**Objective:** Ensure alignment with the client before planning.

**Procedure:**

* Clarify client expectations, preferences, and limitations
* Discuss creative style, tone, and direction
* Align on content usage, formats, and timelines
* Validate any assumptions before moving forward

**Output:** Confirmed creative direction and expectations.

## 7.5 SOP: Concept Development

**Objective:** Translate research into executable creative ideas.

**Procedure:**

* Define the main creative idea and message
* Break ideas into structured topics or themes
* Ensure concepts align with scope and feasibility
* Collect references that support execution
* Avoid overpromising or unnecessary complexity

**Output:** Clear, executable creative concepts.

## 7.6 SOP: Budgeting & Resource Planning

**Objective:** Ensure creative plans align with approved resources.

**Procedure:**

* Review approved budgets and constraints
* Plan sets, props, casting, and locations realistically
* Align with Production on feasibility
* Avoid committing to elements outside scope

**Output:** Feasible creative plan aligned with budget and resources.

## 7.7 SOP: Pre-Production Plan

**Objective:** Prepare a clear execution roadmap.

**Procedure:**

* Use the approved Bricks Pre-Production Plan template
* Clearly list deliverables, shots, and setups
* Define props, wardrobe, casting, and equipment
* Add clear notes and priorities
* Review internally before finalizing

**Output:** Approved Pre-Production Plan ready for execution.

## 7.8 SOP: Pre-Production Briefing

**Objective:** Align the team before execution.

**Procedure:**

* Brief the team on brand, vision, and objectives
* Review the Pre-Production Plan and call sheet
* Clarify roles and responsibilities
* Highlight key shots and priorities
* Address risks and questions

**Output:** Team aligned and prepared for production.
